Kretsloppshuset (literally, the Circle of Life House) is the result of years of dedicated work to create an organic, environmentally-sound establishment in rural northern Sweden. Small-scale agriculture takes place side-by-side with a variety of other activities, all aimed at providing inspiration for a more sustainable lifestyle.
|

The house is run by enthusiastic employees and owned by a 40 member co-operative, which is divided into various working groups; for example, poultry management, gardening, shop/café, guided tours and administration.
|

The Garden

Cultivation takes place both outdoors and under glass. The front garden has over 400 hardy perennials, roses, herbs and alpines. An apiary provides honey for the café and shop and a demonstration hive is situated in the bee-garden. There are a number of different types of compost for organic material, both for nourishing the gardens and inspiring visitors.

The Hen-house

Our hens produce beneficial fertiliser for the garden and live in a beautiful old-fashioned hen-house. Different races are gathered in four large indoor runs and in one large outdoor run. Here you will find traditional Swedish breeds alongside a hardy breed from northern India.

Organic farm shop and general store

A huge range of interesting groceries and quality products are sold in our shop, all chosen with respect for the environment and fair terms for producers in the Third World. You can grind your own coffee and flour or roll cereals for porridge and muesli.
